Squirrel Diet Update

I forgot to post last week.
The week before last (week 4) I lost 2 pounds.
Last week (week 5) I lost 1.8 pounds.
Total amount lost: 10.4 pounds!!
I was very excited to hit the 10 pound mark.
This week I need to push myself a little bit harder because I am losing a day because I have to go to the Sunday WW meeting because our regular Monday meeting was canceled.
New menu item:
Last week I made a homemade quesadilla with low-fat cheese, fat free refried beans and veggies! It was good!!
Also, my super nice friend found me the BEST banana chocolate muffins!! One of my favorite sweet foods was the "reduced-fat" (hello, not that reduced) banana chocolate cake from Starbucks. The muffins taste JUST like the Starbucks cake but they are only 3 WW points!!! SOOO DELICIOUS!!!

Squirrel Diet Update

I have completed 3 weeks of weight watchers!!! Three weeks with no pizza or fries or chips!!
Last week I made a point to drink more water, go to the gym 5 days out of the week and do more stuff around the house before watching TV.
Last weeks favorite meal I cooked:
Sunday -
Turkey Burger with sauteed onions and mushroom, a slice of WW cheese and crisp lettuce on a toasted roll with a side of corn. I think I should go on Top Chef!! Yum!
Grand Total Lost: 6.6 pounds

St. Patrick's Day Poem

Once there was a leprechaun
who lived in a far away land
and when he'd introduce himself
he'd say hi-dalee-ho, I am Don!
All day long he would sing this tune
and this is how it went:
"I'm Don, I'm Don, the lep-re-chaun
and I am searching for gold.
I like, to wear, green all day long
It looks like my suit's made of mold.
Gold, is all, I care about
Each piece is mine, mine, mine.
The gold, I'll never share about
and that's just fine, fine, fine"
Then, while sitting by a rainbow one day
He heard the most beautiful sound
He walked and walked to investigate
and this is what he found.
A beautiful lady singing a song so sweet
and this is how it went:
"I'm Fawn, I'm Fawn, the lep-re-chaun
and I am searching for gold
I like, to wear, green all day long
It looks like my dress is made of mold
Gold, is all, I care about
Each piece is mine, mine, mine
The gold, I'll never share about
and that's just fine, fine, fine"
But Don, he was a leprechaun
and so his heart turned cold
he chased, and caught and beat poor Fawn
and he stole all of her lovely gold!!!
HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!!

WW Update
I gave lost a grand total of 3.6 pounds.
3 last week and .6 this week. I swear their scale is evil. I didn't go off the diet once and I went to the gym 4 times. .6 seems a little low!!! But...I guess losing .6 is better then gaining it. I'm hoping to lose more this week. My goal is to hit the gym at least 5 times this week.
I have a long way to go, but everyone has to start somewhere.

Day of the Tentacle
My computer is and will remain unavailable for the next week or so. You see, I recently found my old copy of the computer game Day of the Tentacle ("DOTT"). This was the first computer game I can remember being completely addicted to. Though it has a CD (so high tech when it came out during the age of the floppy) it isn't compatible with my new computer and must be run through the horrifying DOS box!....blah blah computer talk...blah blah!!
Anyway, after two hours trying to get it to run, it finally works, only now it won't save the game....so, I figure I will play it though until a. I beat it (I beat it once about 14 or so years ago) or b. My ADD wins out and I move onto something new.
So until one of those things happen I will be blogging from my iPhone.

Lost Recap -- 03/04
episodes. I like the direction they are taking Sawyer. He is not one of
my favorite characters so it is good to finally see him doing something
that doesn't make him look like a big loser.
We learned a couple of more things last night...we got to see that in
1974 that statue with the 4 toes is still standing. So something must
have happened between then and now to knock it over, something
big...something like this "war" they have mentioned coming. Also, that
people on the island during this time can have healthy babies. Which
implies that whatever happened to destroy the statue is possibly
connected to why people can't have babies on the island anymore (I like
this theory even more because these two factors were brought together in
one show). We also learned that Richard and his minions are immune to
the sonic fence, which raises the question we have already been asking
because of his never aging status, Is he human? Also, is he the only one
who never ages? If others in his camp are also unaffected by the fence,
maybe they don't age either. They mentioned him wearing eyeliner again
too. Whether this comment is just some sort of writers running joke or
whether there is a reason for the eyeliner or whatever it is, of course,
is still unknown.

The Evil Beast
The girl tried screaming at the beast but it was not even phased! She tried throwing pillows at him, but that only made the screaming grow louder and more persistent!
Finally, she dragged herself from her warm bed and stumbled into the bathroom to turn on the bathtub sink in hopes that the fur-ocious beast would drink himself into slumber.
Once the evil creature finished drinking, the girl turned off the water and climbed back into her bed. The now watered demon also curled up in his bed and they both fell fast asleep!
The end.

Movie Review: Coraline
Coraline was visually fantastic! I saw the movie in 3-D and it was absolutely beautiful. The story was dark and creepy (as all good children's stories are). Even the animation itself was creeptastic!! It sort-of looked like a cartoon version of The Nightmare Before Christmas (which makes sense since it had the same director).
The Worst Things:
The movie didn't seem to have a lot of energy. It was beautiful to watch and the story was interesting but there wasn't that added umpf of something-or-other to push it above and beyond. Rather then being on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen next, I found myself thinking, "Is something going to happen soon?"
Overall:
I would recommend seeing it to friend. Especially, a friend with a child. While some of the reviews I read claimed that the movie was too scary for a child, I didn't see that as a problem at all. It was dark, but not dark enough to drive a kid to nightmares (unless the kid was already unstable in some way).
Mangy Squirrel Rating: 3 1/2 out of 5 acorns.

Lost 2/04
Don't get me wrong, the time traveling is cool but sometimes it makes my head hurt! Not in the nose bleeding sense though.
The real problem is that in thinking her husband is dead, Sun has sort of become a murderous bitch and is putting the blame on the wrong people.
Hurley is in prison and was looking his best in that orange jumpsuit! NOT!!
The oceanic six were all back together sans Hurley in prison but seeing as how we still have like 14 more episodes and I am guessing they won't get back to the island until the end of that time, it is safe to assume that next week something is going to go terribly wrong.

LOST season 5 ep. 1 & 2
It was a good episode. Lost has always been the kind of show that u have to watch every episode or you will be completely "lost". The upcoming time travel in the show will probably be cool but has the potential to confuse Lost watchers that are not die hard fans.
The best part of the show lastnight was Hurley's recap of the entire Lost story!!! It sounded absolutely insane....but not!
I am looking forward to this season and preparing myself for it to just get more weird and confusing...but, that is part of the appeal of Lost!!!

Okay, so I know, I suck
I have not seen any new movies lately. Usually the first part of the year sucks for movies anyway. The good ones don't seem to show up in the theater until around May.
I am hoping to review/recap on each episode of Lost. But since there are like serious Lost freaks out there my reviews will be short and sweet.
Also, there are some new shows getting ready to air for the midseason line-up. Dollhouse, etc...hopefully there will be something new that doesn't suck!

Music Review: The Twilight Soundtrack
In the movie the music wasn't really that noticable the first time I saw it but it stood out much more the second time around.
I love soundtracks. I would say that of my CD collection (which is at least 500 CDs) that I would guess that at least 1/4 of them are soundtracks. The Twilight soundtrack has moved to my TOP 5 favorites! It is a rare treat to find a CD where I can listen to the whole thing without skipping past songs that suck. Though all of the songs are very good. My favorites are:
~Eyes on Fire by Blue Foundation - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THl0RYpLTYI
~Decode by Paramore - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jl_kMFR0OTU
~Supermassive Black Hole by Muse - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xsp3_a-PMTw
~Never Think by Robert Patterson (Edward Cullen) is also very good
Even if you have not seen the movie or thought it wasn't good, I would still strongly recommend this CD!!!

Ode to my iPhone
I can call all my friends
I can talk talk talk
Until the day ends
With my iPhone
I can surf on the net
I can check my facebook
And post pictures of wolfram, my pet
My iPhone tells me the weather
and let's me play games
Downloading stuff for free
Definately isn't lame
It stores all my music
And phone numbers too
I can watch the stocks drop
while crying, boo-hoo.
So many cool apps
Like a virtual dog
My iPhone's so awesome
It deserves a poem on my blog!

Movie Review: The Day The Earth Stood Still
Special Effects: the effects were cool, however I think they could have had more of a punch.
The Plot: the plot of the movie was somewhat different from that of the original. The main theme was one that seems to be very popular amongst movies right now (humans are destroying the planet) which is seen in other movies like Wall-e and The Happening. I would say that of these 3 movies I would rank this one as 2nd place (wall-e 1st and the happening 3rd)
The Acting: the role of the alien Klatuu was perfect for Keanu Reeves, as he is not the most well rounded actor but does a good job playing stiff alien or robotic roles with minimal emotions. Jennifer Connelly made up for Keanu's lack of emotion. The kid, played by Will Smith's son was VERY annoying and the part could have probably been removed without anyone noticing. He was nothing more then an unnecessary annoyance.
The worst part of the movie was the ending. It seemed rushed.
I would recommend watching this movie on a rainy day when it is free on cable.

My Bloody Valentine 3D - coming soon
This movie is starring Jensen Eckles of Supernatural (YUM) and a bunch a cry-baby skinny girls.
Another thing I liked about the trailer was the tagline:
"Nothing says date movie like a 3D ride to Hell!"
I know I would be terrified and would probably close my eyes and plug my ears for most of it (thus wasting like $15) but I kinda want to see it.
It comes out at the end of January.

10 Great Holiday Movies
1. The Grinch Who Stole Christmas (the cartoon version only) - a classic
2. Rudolph - another classic. It is full of claymation goodness!
3. Die Hard - Yippee-ki-yay mother$&@?&$!! Also, it has Alan Rickman as the bad guy....YUM!!
4. Babes in Toyland (only the one from 1960). This movie is awesome. They don't play it enough!!
5. Scrooged. One of my all time favorites!! More holiday movies should be like this one!!
6. A Christmas Story. Yet another classic.
7. The Gremlins. Answering the age old question of what to get someone who has everything!!
8. The Shining. There is nothing like watching the snow gently fall from a beautiful hotel...especially if you are staying in room 237!!!
9. The Nightmare Before Christmas. Is it a Christmas movie? Is it a Halloween movie? Who cares?!
10. Mickey's Christmas Carol. I use to watch this every year when I was a kid!!

Kirk Cameron is still a GIANT tool!!
Then, most of the show was an advertisement for the Mel Gibson movie Passion of the Christ. You remember Mr. Gibson, right? He was the man who made anti-Semitic remarks to the officer arresting him for driving drunk and then calling a female officer "sugar-tits"!! Nice role model you got there Kirky!!!
I never saw Passion of the Christ. I wouldn't want to hand my money over to a hypocritical anti-Semite who obviously doesn't have any respect for women or the law!
Then, on the show Kirk shows clips of recent movies with people cussing (bleeping out the sinful parts, of course). These movies include the bucket list and some vince vaughn movie. If I were any of the actors in those movies I would be pissed!! Not to mention the fact that I can't recall hearing in the news that vince vaughn was running around calling the females that help serve and protect us sugar-tits!!!
All of this "see only the g rated god friendly movies" couldn't at all be a ploy to boost sales of Kirk's own lame-ass movie about god fearing fire fighters....could it?!! That would be....very wrong!!
And...Ray Comfort looked creeptastic in a tux!!!!
